We are excited to welcome our newest students through our Kindergarten Bridges Program! This special program is designed to help incoming kindergarten students become familiar with their new school, meet teachers and friends, and build confidence before the first day of school.
Our goal is to make the transition to school a positive and memorable experience for both students and families. We look forward to helping our future kindergarteners feel comfortable, confident, and ready for an amazing school year!

Meet the Teacher
Thursday, August 6th from 4-6pm
Students must be completely registered to attend. This includes all documentation uploaded or emailed to sdock@mcpss.com
We will not handle any registration during this time.
Everyone will start in the gym.
Things to do at Meet the Teacher:
*Complete transportation forms. All students must have a transportation form completed before the first day of school.
*Sign parent compacts.
*Purchase Griggs spirit shirts $10 Griggs sweatshirts $20.
*Pre-purchase yearbooks $45.
*Bring teacher wish lists items. Not required, but greatly appreciated.
*Nurse Sara will be available if needed.
*Sign up for Before/After school care if needed. Space are limited.
*Visit your child's classroom and meet the teacher. Teacher will also have individual information to hand out.

●Online registration is the process of notifying MCPSS that your child will attend school for the 26-27 school year.
●Returning Student: Any student actively enrolled in any MCPSS school or program on May 1, 2026.
●New Student: Any student who has never been enrolled any MCPSS school or was not actively enrolled in any MCPSS school on May 1, 2026.
●The online registration platform, PowerSchool Enrollment, is integrated with MyPowerHub (used to view student grades and attendance) for parents/guardians of returning students. There is no need to create or remember a new username or password if your student is currently enrolled and you already have access to MyPowerHub.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
May 4th-8th
Monday, May 4th: "Yo-Da the Best Teacher!" Bring your teachers' favorite school supplies. May the 4th be with You! Star Wars themed treats will be provided for our staff, courtesy of Amber & Timothy Ryan from Mobile Pro Painters & West Mobile Handyman.
Tuesday, May 5th: “Holy Guacamole, You’re a great Teacher!” Bring your teacher a flower. If each student brings one flower your teacher will have a beautiful bouquet. Happy Cinco de Mayo! San Miguel's lunch will be provided, courtesy of Tiffany & Brent Scott with Better Homes & Garden Real Estate Platinum Properties and Rose Melton & Isabella from River Bank and Trust.
Wednesday, May 6th: "Thanks for being a SPUD-TACULAR teacher!" Bring your teachers' favorite chips/snacks. Texas Roadhouse Potato bar, salad and rolls will be provided, courtesy of Christy & Johnny Bowen- Johnny's RV and Christy's T & T Florist.
Thursday, May 7th: Send a Sip! You can use the link any time between now and 5/7 to make a donation for your child’s teacher/school staff. Link will expire @ 12:30pm on 5/7. Not required but greatly appreciated. Send a Sip link for parents to donate a coffee/drink to a staff member
Friday, May 8th: "There is no sub-stitute for a great teacher like you!" Write a kind note or draw a picture for your teacher. Lunch will be provided, courtesy of Matt & Angel Cooley with Professional Fire Protection Services.

Griggs Grad Walk 2026
Griggs Elementary School would like to invite all graduating seniors who attended Griggs for elementary school to participate in our Griggs Grad Walk.
When: Thursday, May 7th
Where: The hallways of Griggs
Seniors will Meet in the gym.
Time: 1:30 pm
Seniors can park in the back of the school near the gym. Don't forget to wear your cap and gown.

The W. C. Griggs Peer Model Pre-K program is now accepting applications for typical peer models for the 2026-2027 school year. Students in the Peer Model Pre-K program will have a chance to receive a high-quality education while modeling developmentally appropriate language and social skills for students with special needs. Peer models must:
-Be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2026
-NOT have an active Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
-Reside in the WC Griggs Elementary School District
-Be FULLY toilet trained
-Demonstrate developmentally appropriate language and social skills
-Attend a scheduled screening at Griggs Elementary with school staff
-Have a completed application on file
This is a tuition-based program. Approximately $240.00 per month.
If you are interested in having your student screened to be a peer model, please fill out this form by February 13, 2026, and we will contact you to schedule a screening.

December 8th, 9th, 10th, & 12th
Santa Shop gives students the opportunity to buy gifts for family and friends for the holidays. Prices may range from under $1 to $20 with the majority of items costing $1.00 - $6.00.

Griggs Christmas Lunch
Christmas lunch will be on Thursday, December 11, 2025, for
Pre-K, K-2nd, Javillonar's, & Perryman's classes ONLY and their PRE-REGISTERED VISITORS.
Please, NO outside food.
All other grades (3rd-5th grade classes) will have Christmas lunch in their classrooms (No visitors).
Adult visitor price is $6.00. Please pre-pay cash (correct change) or checks made payable to Griggs no later than 12/8/25.
Please send money and form in with your student.
Only 4 visitors per student. Sorry, we cannot pull siblings.
Parents will park on the asphalt by the gym. Then, proceed to the covered picnic area to sign in. You will meet your student in the main hallway.
