Uniform Information
Top: Girls
Plain, solid white or red golf style polo with 2-4 buttons and collar.
- Short or long-sleeve are acceptable.
- Plain solid red or white turtleneck during cold weather months is acceptable.
- Only Griggs School logo is accepted.
- Griggs spirit shirts may be purchased at the school and may be worn on Fridays only or on field trips or other special days as determined by administration.
- No prints, patterns, or colors are to be visible underneath outer shirt.
- ONLY plain, white, red undershirts are acceptable with short or long sleeves.
- Shirts must be long enough to tuck in so that belt or waistband is visible.
Bottom: Girls
Khaki uniform style or Griggs school plaid #49 only.
- No cargo pockets, no corduroy, no khaki jeans, no decorative stitching, buttons, etc.
- Pants must be worn at the waist and must be secured with a belt if belt loops are visible. (Belts are not required for Pre-K, K, and 1st.)
- Skirts, skorts, and shorts must be 3" from the middle of the knee.
- For modesty reason, shorts are required under skirts or jumpers.
Top: Boys

Brown or Black only. No large buckles or decorations on belts. Must be worn if belt loops are present. (Belts are not required for Pre-K, K, and 1st.)
Socks: Girls
Solid white socks must cover the ankle.
- Solid opaque white, navy or red tights are acceptable during cold weather months (no designs).
Socks: Boys
Solid white socks must cover the ankle.
Shoes
- Students may wear any color tennis shoe. . The following shoes***ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE***boots, dress shoes of any kind, shoes with wheels and no high top tennis shoes.
Outerwear: Male/Female
- Sweater, sweatshirt, Lightweight Jacket: Griggs sweatshirts are suggested.
- You will have an opportunity to order Griggs sweatshirts at registration and during cold weather months.
- Plain solid navy or solid red sweatshirts, sweaters, or lightweight jackets are acceptable.
- No Hoodies per MCPSS policy.
- Must be worn over uniform shirt.
- Only Griggs School logo acceptable.
- Outwear Jacket, Sweater, Coat: Must be removed when entering the school.
Additional Notes
Jewelry:
- small stud earrings are acceptable for girls/boys.
- Girls/boys may wear one stud earring in each ear lobe only.
- Stud earring must be smaller than a pencil eraser.
- Large studs, dangling earrings or hoops, and other jewelry is not acceptable.
Makeup:
- No makeup.
Hair:
- Hair is to be clean and well groomed with no carvings or color.
- Hair must be the natural hair color and out of the eyes.
- Hairstyles should not be distracting to the student or other classmates.
Fragrances:
- No fragrances due to allergies and asthma of others.
Clothing
- Clothing is to be neat and clean with no open holes, rips, or tears.
- Clothing and bookbags may not display items related to or promoting violence, alcohol, tobacco, and/or drugs.
- The same items must be free of vulgar pictures and/or profanity, and/or offensive words or graphics.
- No Hats, Caps, or Bandannas.
- Parents, please put your child’s name in all pieces of clothing.
- Administration has the prerogative to determine whether uniform is acceptable and may alter the policy for special occasions.
